PLDT’s Digital TV partner is having a promo which will run until December 31. Yes, you still have 17 days to avail and enjoy a special rate of 1,300 pesos on the Cignal Satellite Kit which normally costs 4,700 pesos. Now you can enjoy satellite digital TV at a low cost of 2,690 initial total payment which includes 1,500 for the kit, 1,000 installation fee and 390 php. Great deal eh?
But the thing is, this only applies to Regular Cignal Bundle which includes 21 Standard Definition Channels and NO HD. I just phoned them earlier, and confirmed that you STILL have to pay 6,500 php if you want HD. Which will cost me total of 8,490 php to avail the Cignal HD Bundle and 8,790 php for the Cignal Combo Bundle. Another thing is, you CANNOT avail of this promo if you’re not a PLDT subscriber.
The back of the Cignal Promo Flyer says:

If you like special offers, Reading the fine print usually below the promo ad is a must, and this one says:
Estimated installation fee if 1,000 pesos applies. May vary depending on location and materials needed. (Even Finer Line) Promo runs until December 31, 2009. Per DTI-NCR Permit No. 5297. Series of 2009.
Still in a dilemma, my other option to be able to have the most out of our HD LCD TV is to get an Apple TV or get a network multimedia extender like the WDTV Live. But I have to think about that later. The PLDT Cignal Promo sounds like a sweet deal but doesn’t apply to HD bundles. Sure the SD bundle is good enough but eventually if you want to upgrade to have HD programming you will need to pay another 6500 for the dish, 1k labor plus the first month.
If you don’t plan to have HD later, then this deal is perfect for you. But if you’re planning to upgrade soon, I suggest you to get the HD bundle, its cheaper than getting the SD package and then upgrading later OR you can be patient and wait till Cignal and PLDT come up with a promo which include HD programming remember “patience is a virtue” my friend.
