After getting a decent HD LCD TV the next step would be watching TV on it, but if you’re in a secluded place like me, chances are you ended up watching regular VHF and UHF channels which offers SD (Standard Definition) programming and you’ll have few channels that have clear or decent signal. Subscribing to Cable TV will give me clearer and more channel options but it seems that CATV providers have forsaken our place. So I ended up searching for the best Satellite TV service providers that offers HD (High Definition) Channels. After searching with google I found out that PLDT (a local telephone company) have ventured with MediaScape to provide Satellite Digital TV with the brand Cignal Digital TV.
Cignal TV is a nationwide direct-to-home satellite TV francise, which is 100% Digital and uses DBS (Direct broadcast satellite) technology. They use NSS 11 N12 Satellites which was launched October 2, 2000 and is operated by New Skies Satellites. The Lifespan of the Satellite is 15 years upon its launch, meaning it will end its life by 2015?
Installation and Requirements
To avail of the service you’ll be needing a Satellite Dish 75cm in diameter and weights 6kg, Cignal Digital TV Set Top box and cables to hook up the dish to the STB and STB to the TV. The satellire should be pointed at 220.640 southwest and there should not be any obstruction between the dish and the satellite. And for those who want to use 2 or more TV to one Set Up Box, the good news is YES that’s possible but you’ll get the same channel on all the TV connected to that STB.
Application procedure includes filling of application form with attached proof of billing, paying the setup fee and submitting the form to a certified Cignal Distributor. Postpaod users will need proof of Billing (Meralco, PLDT or other bill under the subscriber name, and Proof of income (Payslip, bank statement, ITR or emolyment certificate)
Cignal TV can be installed in any home however if you live in a shared building like condominiums, a written permission from the building administration allowing installation of 75cm satellite dish, running an RG6 cable along side of the building, and drilling a hole for the cable to be ran from the outside to the inside of the unit. Extra Charges includes 12 PhP per foot extra cable, 1,500 PhP Line Amplifiers and 500 Php for splitters. Manual Installation is possible however due to the complexity of the settings to get the proper programing, the availability of the tools needed to make sure all connections and orientation of the dish is correct, Cignal TV doesn’t recommend manual installation.
Cignal TV Promo Packages (as of November 2009)
- Cignal Bundle: Includes 21 Standard Definition Channels for 390PhP Montly and one time fee of 4,700 PhP.
- Cigal HD Bundle: Includes 8 High Definition Channels for 990PhP Monthly and one time fee of 6,500 Php.
- Cignal Combo Bundle: Combines regular and HD Cignal to give 8 High Definition and 21 Standard Definition Channles with bonus Cinemax Channel for 1,290 Php Monthly and 6,500 PhP one time fee.
Take note that you need to pay additional installation fee of 1000Php may vary depending on the location and materials needed for the installation. They also state that only Four HD channels are enhanced to 1080i which make me think that the other Four HD channels are in 720p resolution. Also there’s a 12-month lock-in period so you have no choice but to subscribe for a year before you terminate or downgrade. I just hope they give incentive to one-time annual payers.

Another option is to buy hacked satellite TV in RAON Quiapo, but some says that once you get caught your dish will be confiscated and your geo coordinates will be blocked. I’m not really sure how true is that but I’d rather pay cash and get the legit service. And since some of my friends are happy subscribers of Cignal Digital TV, I might as well subscribe later this month.
And oh! before I forgot Cignal’s phone support is also great! Ms. Charlotte answered all of my question promptly. Although all information are already on Cignal TV’s website, she is so patient and willing to explain everything.

Geez! Why are there so many people here treating this blog like it’s officially sanctioned by Cignal?! Meron pang mga bumigay ng address at acct numbers nila. Ano akala nyo? Pupunta dyan ang blogger sa mga bahay ninyo at aayusin ang Cignal nyo??? That somehow the blogger has access to Cignal’s database and he can look for your acct number and rectify your predicament??? DUH!!!
*Deep breath – Trying to calm down*. Okay, now that’s out of the way… It seems the blogger is the only one with a positive review of Cignal. Lahat na lang negative e. This is very discouraging as I am planning to switch from Sky Cable to Cignal coz I recently bought a 46″ 1080p HDTV, and most of the channels have become fuzzy. Like when I’m watching a game on NBA Premium TV, it’s impossible to distinguish the faces of the players on the court! I don’t know if it’s Kobe or Meeks or Jamison playing or maybe all 3 are on court but I can’t tell who’s who! I doubt if it’s my tv coz the samsung salesrep told me this is one of their higher end model (UA46ES7100 – it’s a 3D Smart TV). I’ll ask our local Cignal provider here if they also charge 600 for on-site customer support. Coz if they do, then I’d rather suffer it out with Sky. Hehe.
Nov. 14 po nang nagka Cignal Cable kami, then after like 8 months? Nagka password po yung cignal pag i on mo, pero ok lang kasi naka lagay sa manual na apat na zero
lang or 0000 so for almost 4 months every open namin sa tv maylalabas na pleas enter password at 0000 lang angiclick at makaka enjoy nakami sa panonood ng tv pero, this october 23 hindi naka pag byad ng bill si mama so after 24 hrs pa nakabyad si mama and pag on namin sa tv may password na naman pero no worries kasi 0000 nga lang yung password but, pag enter namin hindi na cya gumana. May naka lagay na na sorry wrong pin please reenter , tapos wala namang nag change sa pin di na namin alam kung anong gagawin. Please? Paano ba?

Cavite… i installed Cignal Oct last yr lng (not sure of the month)… i agree very poor service ang CIGNAL… ang technical support nila may fee n 600… nagstart ang problem nung may 2012 ang tagal magboot ung device nila, ive waited for almost 2hrs, biruin mo ung sayang n kuryente but when iwas about to call customer srvice nging ok but the boot time is still the same but then yung 2hrs waiting time naging 3hrs na at while your in the middle of the action biglang nagreboot by itself (o come on!) thats when i decided to ask for a replacement of the device and accept to pay 600 just to have someone check the device… sa totoo lng given a chance D na sana ako nagpakabit ng CIGNAL… kya lang wla kasing available cable dito samen, CIGNAL lng talaga…
Cignal HD sucks! I was on a normal HBO channel which work perfectly until they switch it to HD, no I cant even watch it, screen goes black, it gets pixelated which basically is useless and their even bragging their HD channels?! Wtf! Done with all troubleshooting rebooting the set top box, removing the sat card, and I even resorted to moving the satellite dish position itself. But to no avail nothing happened and mind you it only does it on HD channels! Non HD channels are fine. Contacted their cust care and they asked me to do the same thing which is fine with me (In case I miss something..) after which the person on the other line told me that there may be a problem with my set top box (Humax) and as I explained clearly that the problems only exist in their HD channels, the cust care agent still persists that there is a problem with my set top box! And now their asking me to pay php.600 to have it checked by a technician which will basically do the same thing they asked me on phone! What a total ripoff! Im just waiting until the effectivity of the contract bond to end and im closing their crappy service! For those of you thinking getting cignal, think again and better yet go with cable instead! And one more thing.. Cignal only works when its not raining!

As of now you can load cignal via smart eload system.. Its more easy rather than going to bank.. Just to be note before you purchase a load make sure your receiver is ON..
I am already a CIGNAL TV Subscriber. My subscription expired and I completed an online application and paid for a month’s subscription to include an additional decoder box on 8 Dec 2010. My account # is 777522. I was told by Graphics in Cagayan de Oro that is now a CIGNAL Provider that all is needed is to reboot the system at my home and the hold up is CIGNAL in Manila. Right now I am only receiving Channel 5 on my TV and a notice on the tV, “This card is not authorized (6).” Request your assistance.

Thanks for posting your concerns. I hope this is just a rare incident.
Just found out that the dealer in Carmona Cavite did not remit one month of my payment to Cignal resulting to the disconnection of the service. Now I can f…n watch TV. Poor billing system.
I plan to buy an HDTV this December or early next year.
In this case, I hope Cignal will study the possibility of coming up with a flexible program package. I hope one that would allow subscribers to choose the channel they want. All Cignal has to do is bill the customer for the the number and type of channel they choose.
The rational is that most employees working on a regular shift has limited TV viewing time. We can not be expected to view all the TV channels in the existing package. If Cignal, can offer this product innovation, I,m sure a lot of will be enticed to subscribe.
Also, much better if Cignal can provide a fast internet service using the existing satellite backbone.
