reTweeting is posting a content on Twitter that repeats some information previously twitted by another twitter using a retweet service like “retweet button”, I’ve seen many blogs and website use this to encourage visitors to retweet their content on twitter, it’s like the “Digg this” button.
There are Two ways to have that retweet button.
- TweetMeme, a service that tracks stories on twitter, there’s a Wordpress Plugin that you can download here, and a complete instruction on using it on non Wordpress Powered sites here.
- BackType Twitcount Plugin, a plugin that uses BackType Connect to find all the links your posts receive on Twitter. It shows the number of tweets you have, and lets users retweet your posts quickly and easily. Download backtype tweetcount here
I first tried TwitterMeme, setup is a breeze but after setting it up some posts shows “?” Question Mark on the Retweet Button according to this forum the tweetmeme crew fixed it I wonder why it still shows on my new installation, some guys figure a fix by themselves.
Another disadvantage if Twitmeme is that it’s not possible to change the color of the retweet this button.
On the other hand with Backtype Twitcount Plugin it is possible to change the retweet buttons color to fit your sites colour theme, it doest have any error like the Question Mark on the button but it needs you to signup to awe.sm link shortening service otherwise the retweeted link will not work, okay no problem you can easily signup to awe.sm but the problem is awe.sm is invite only and you have to fill-up a survery form to get an invite code. I’m still waiting for my invite code though. So until i get an invite code i cant use Backtype Twittcount.
So for now not untilll Tweetmeme fixed the problem and awe.sm give me an invite code, no retweet this button for me.
If any of you know a better solution, please let me know.
