Today at IFA 2009 Toshiba surprised the delegates with the introduction of a Mobile Internet Device (MID) in a slab form factor, they call it The Journe Touch.
The MID can play HD videos on it’s 800×480 screen, browse the web with it’s built-in wifi, and watch videos on youtube or Acetrax. The interface looks iPhone-ish, you can see flickr, msn, picasa, and facebook buttons for quick access.
This Tablet PC runs on Windows CE MID, and can also play music stored on it’s 1gb built-in memory. I know 1GB is not enough for the average media freak but you can add more content with it’s SDHC card slot. Also the battery lasts for seven hours of music playback and two hours non-stop browsing.
Toshiba did not unveil the price but the Journe Touch will be available thi fall. From the looks of it and the specs underneath the Journe Touch is more like a Glorified Electronic Photo Frame. It will look good on my desk or on the family room’s the side table.
