Today Verizon unveiled the Motorola Droid, Andrew of WSJ conducted the live-blog here. So what is this DROID?, I bet from the name itself it’s a new Motorola Google Android based mobile phone (Moto BLUR). But this one is better than the CLIQ aka DEXT.

“This is a pretty exciting day for us,” Stratton says. Motorola has been “a critical part of this story,” calling Motorola, Google and Verizon Wireless three great brands that have come together on Droid.

So far it’s the thinnest Motorola Droid handset that have a 3.7 inch display, but what about the specs?

With that specifications, what does Motorola want to prove with the DROID?. According to the manufacturers site, the DROID promises to deliver faster and better internet experience with Verizon’s lightning-fast 3G, it’s 500MHz processor, and huge 3.7 inch screen with 400,000 pixel which is twice more than the competitor (which one, the iphone?).

With a voice operated centralized search, the DROID promises to retrieve search information from your contacts, Google search result, and the result will be based on your location via your GPS information. Also it searches your apps, contacts, browser, music and even YouTube™ when you do a search using its search bar rather than the voice initiated search. Pretty cool eh? I just hope the processor and memory can handle the tons of information it can retrieve.

If you’re a yuppie and require PUSH email, GOOD NEWS!, The Motorola DROID pushes Gmail and Exchange email directly to your inbox and you can respond via the onscreen virtual keypads or with the DROID’s efficient full QWERTY keyboard. With tons of apps you can get from the Android Market, you can do social networking or almost everything else. And did I say that the DROID supports plug-in calendar and contacts?, this mean you can plug-in other calendar and contact information to your Motorola DROID and your contacts and calendar will be synced with the plugged in information. Price, Availability and Release Dates

BGR blogged that the DROID will be launched on October 30, but they’re a bit short. Motorola just announced the DROID earlier today (October 28, 2009) with an event held at the W Hotel in New York. And it will be available on November 6, 2009 and will cost around $199 via Verizon with contract and standard data-plan pricing.
Sorry to disapoint but there’s no information if the DROID will be available in other countries but according to Jha (Motorola), they will be releasing about 20 more smart phones in 2010. If you’re in the US and want to learn more about the Mororola DROID you can visit droiddoes.com enter your email and get the latest information, it kinda mock the iPhone with the tag-line “everything iDont”. I just hope the it live up to it’s promises and not just fool around with the iPhone.

It looks pretty slick but boxy, that huge 3.7 inch is just gorgeous and hey is that a finger print scanner on the right side of the QWERTY keyboard? lol, you know i’m kindin’ right?. Also there are Verizon, Google, and Motorola at the back which indicate that the DROID is made by Motorola, you pay via Verizon, and it runs on Google android and everything Google. Is there a term “Googlelicious”?

And Oh the background song of the iDon’t Motorola DROID ad is sung by MoZella and titled Magic (Oh Oh Oh)”, watch the video below.
