Sony Japan’s has released the thinnest LCD television, ZX1 series 40-inch display which is only 9.9mm thick at its narrowest, and only 12.2kg or 26 pounds in weight. The display itself has only 1 HDMI port, while a wireless box can send the 120Hz MotionFlow for improved image quality in fast-moving sequences and Bravia Engine 2. Other specifications, such as a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and a 178 degree viewing angle should satisfy most consumers. This is truly the perfect 40 inch television.

Another interesting aspect of this television aside from its incredible slim profile, is the inclusion of a wireless HD base station that goes with this device. Sony has not listed the maximum range for this particular model’s wireless HD, but many are assuming that it is WHDI, and based on previous Sony products with this functionality it should be about 20 meters although it is not yet confirmed.

That wireless HD base station will have 3 HDMI, 2 component, s-video, VGA, and even USB, mouse, and LAN port. The USB port will allow you to hook up your Sony camera and display your photos in full HD.

And if that is not enough, the Sony KDL-40ZX1 40-inch LCD HDTValso comes in different colors. [via SonyInsider]
