Yes Folks, the New Samsung 1.8-inch Hard drive will fit in your wallet because it is only as big as your credit cards, maybe not as thin but definitely as big.
Samsung is taking its large capacity 1.8-inch Hard drive, also found in MacBook Air and iPods, and putting it in a Sleek, Glossy Black Casing the size of a Credit Card. The 1.8″ HD’s hasn’t caught up with the 2.5″ HD’s when it comes to capacity but at least Samsung already broke the 100GB Capacity. Still a bit pricey for $300 for the 120GB sized HD but not bad for the 20GB which only goes for $45. It is also an incredible power saver with impressive performance. The 4200-rpm USB drive only draws less than 1.4W and needs just 300mA from a 500mA USB port. Its power consumption is only one-fourth that of a 2.5″ drive. Disk benchmark shows the 4,200-rpm read speed is rated at 27MB/s and write at 23MB/s, which are on par with high-end flash drives.
Samsung is already begging Apple to buy a million for their MacBook Air and iPods and they are also pushing for the chinese market. Still not yet available in other countries but I’m sure that sooner or later the yet nameless Samsung HD will penetrate other countries as well.
