Many have been waiting for Palm’s responce on Apple’s no. 2 Tim Cook hinted a legal battle against Palm Pre. Tim Cook responded to a direct question about how the Palm Pre “almost directly emulates the kind of touch interface” found on the iPhone.

“We like competition as long as they don’t rip off our IP. And we’re going to go after anybody that does.” said Tim Cook

“I’m just making a general statement that we think competition is good; it makes it us all better. And we’re ready to suit up and go against anyone. However, we will not stand for having our IP ripped off and we’ll use whatever weapons we have at our disposal. I don’t know that I can be more clear than that.” responded Tim Cook when asked if he was talking about the Palm Pre

Everybody from the tech community has waited for a response from Palm, Lynn Fox, a Palm spokeswoman has this to say:

“Palm has a long history of innovation that is reflected in our products and robust patent portfolio, and we have long been recognized for our fundamental patents in the mobile space. If faced with legal action, we are confident that we have the tools necessary to defend ourselves.”

Also, according to Lynn Fox, palm has not yet been contacted by Apple’s legal Team. Tha gauntlets are thrown and it is now up to Apple to make the next move. I’m sure that the tech community got their eyes peeled for this one. Will Apple get into another legal battle?
