Lately at IDF, Intel announced the new Light Peak technology. It’s the code-name for a new high-speed optical cable technology that will be able to deliver extremely high bandwidth from 10Gbps to 100Gbps. Just imaging a full length Blu-Ray movie transferred in less than 30 seconds (Should we be saying goodbye to Superspeed USB 3 already?). Using Optical cables instead of the currently more popular copper wires allows smaller connectors, thinner and more flexible cables. This technology is also designed to run multiple protocols at once over a single cable, meaning more than one device connected all at once.
