PMM-HO100 powermat for home officeIt seems like Powermat is getting aggressive on advertising, I see an ad of their wireless charger almost on every website. I knew from years ago that wireless electricity will be a reality and now it’s on its early days and in form of a charging mat.

Now what exactly is the Powermat? - The Powermat is a wireless charging technology which allows users to charge your gedgats without the cords and adapters setting you free from the headache of missing and looking for a specific charger.

Sounds good right? But how does the Powermat work? The Powermat uses principles of magnetic induction combined with their self developed technology to safely and effectively provide power to electronic devices. Powermat can transforms several surfaces like tables, floors, walls and desktops into safe conductors of energy while replaceing the need to access multiple electrical sockets for powering and charging of your gadgets. More Information regarding the magnetic induction principles here.

To use the powermat you need two unit – the Powermat (PMM-HO100) or a powermat enabled surface and a receiver which attaches to your iPhone, blackberry or any gadget. Receivers are sold separately, the receiver case for the ipod touch and iphone costs $35 US same for receiver dock which you can use on any docking ipod or iphone. Battery door receiver for the blackberry pearl, bold, curve 8900 and cuve 8300 is available for $30 US, same price for receiver back for Nintendo DS and DSlite. Also if your device is not yet supported you can get the Powercube which is like a universal receiver equipped with tips that you can use on any gadgets that have Mini & Micro USB, and tip for other gadgets from Samsung, LG, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Nintendo DS lite/DSi and Sony PSP.
