p-geoEver wonder how you can automatically add geo location (longitude latitude GPD coordinates) to your photo so the name of places where you took the shot is automatically added to your picture?.

Most smart-phones like the iPhone have a built-in GPS but that’s a phone. You need a GPS enabled digital camera like Coolpix P600 from Nikon or buy a GPS enabler accessory compatible for your camera OR you can get the new Eye-Fi Geo SD which automatically embed your GPS location to every photo you shoot.

At first I thought how do they put GPS device to this 2GB SD card, until I read the eye-fi geo product page and figured out that it doesn’t have a GPS (global positioning system) unit, instead it uses wi-fi triangulation to get your GPS data and embed it on your photo. So what if you’re in an area where there’s no wi-fi available? Of course no GPS info.

The Eye-Fi Geo is almost there, I just hope they create another version that have dont use wi-fi triangulation. Somthing that really have a GPS unit instead of wi-fi. If you travel on cities which is likely to have wi-fi hotspots then this product is perfect for you, otherwise if you plan to go to places like the beach, or country side, forget it!. It would be best to get a GPS enables Camera or get a GPS addon to your existing one.
