Coolpix S1000pj Nikons Projector Equipped Digicam

This projector enabled compact digital camera was announced by Nikon last August 4 and we already seen ads of the Coolpix S1000pj featuring Many Pacquiao holding it after his fight with Miguel Cotto. Being able to share your photos instantly by beaming it onto any surface is a lot better than watching them  on a tiny screen while getting squished cheek to cheek with your acne infected cousin.

The Coolpix S1000pj looks interesting, and if you’re the type who like’s to play starwars and project videos into something then this camera is for you. But first let’s take a look at it’s specs.

looking at the specs makes me think its just like most most compact camera with 12.1 megapixel, but wait till you see how the projector performs in real life.

S1000pj Actual Video and Reviews

while the S1000pj does what it sets out to do admirably, we’re a little confused of its value beyond the obvious showing-off-in-the-pub use case. Nikon admitted to Pocket-lint that it’s not expecting to sell a lot of these little devices – just a few to geeks who want to have the latest toy. – Pocket-lint

Most product review site likes the projector performance but considering the price of 400 UK Pounds (around 660 US Dollars or over 30k Philippine Pesos) it’s quite cheaper than buying a digital camera and a separate projector. The Coolpix s1000pj aims to make others WOW but the small projector could only be used in a well dimmed or dark place.

The Coolpix S100pj’s built-in projector is innovative but the application is a bit short, I’d rather see iPods, portable media player or even laptop with the ability to beam images to any surface.


The review is in German language, it looks quite informative but I just cant understand German by bright.tv. :-(
