Canon Entered the Pro Point-and-shoot war with their S series Digital Camera. The S90 is an eye candy, it looks slick unlike it’s Panasonic counterpart the LX3 and with it’s fast f/2 at 28mm wide lens it’s a great camera for serious photographers and enthusiast who like to shot in low light.

Basic features includes 10 megapixel sensor, Face Detection, Better LCD with Pure Color, 3.8x Optical Zoom, Optical Image Stabilizer, Face Detection Self Timer, Motion Detection Technology, Digic 4 Processor, ISO sensitiity up to 3200, Blink Detection, and red-eye correction. (you can see the complete specs on canons site)

The S90 is a very good camera, performs very well in low light and produces great bokeh of nice blurred backfround ,the downside is it only offers 640×480.

With a tag price of $430 the S90 is a bit pricey and that lack of HD video recording is a turnoff. Gizmodo have a hands on review of this digital camera.

If you really want a better camera that produces great images you better off getting a Micro Four-Thirds which is a bit bigger and bulkier but you get replace lenses to meet your demands.

Otherwise if you want great portraits with great bokeh and you don’t want to bother on extra lenses the S90 from Canon is for you. It’s light, trendy and fit’s the pocket well.

Just make sure to look at Panasonics LX3 and compare it side-by-side before buying this digital camera.
