The Nikon D3100 is believed be as the D90  replacement, it will have several features of the D5000 and D90 but will be better in some areas, and might even have an even competitive price tag. Possibilities of continues auto-focus in movie mode and 1080p HD video recording is also possible. New lenses is also in the horizon, rumors suggests it includes a 24-120mm f4 zoom, an 85mm f1.4 prime, a 55-300mm f4.5-5.6 telephoto and an 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 for the full frame FX Nikon Digital SLRs.

Canon will not let Nikon have all the glory as they are also rumored to release the Canon EOS 60D and it’s flagship SLR later 1Ds Mark VI later this month. The EOS 60D will go head to head with the D3100 as it will have Nikon D5000′s swivel screen, 18 megapixel sensor, continuous auto-focus and 1080p video. Details about !Ds Mark VI is yet to be announced, but Canon Poland already sent invites to the August 26 private event.

So if you’re planning to buy a Nikon or Canon Digital SLR, it’s a nice move to wait for September we’re pretty sure that prices of the replaced or discontinues units will fall to a more favorable price.
