Wordpress 2.6 code name “Tyner” named after McCoy Tyner a jazz pianist was released today, it is originally scheduled to be release august of 2008 so what could be the reason for early release? hmmmn.. competition?. The best FREE CMS have again evolved, this keeps me thinking what could they improve with the already powerful blogging platform, after reading the release notes i had come up with this list.

• Post Revision - It’s like the autosave feature but bookmarks every change so you can revert to it with a click see the picture? it’s like the history palette in adobe photoshop.
• Press This - This enables us to post anywhere from the web, it’s like the “dig this!” button on most blogs authors put the code on the post and when you click on it you can now easily grab those content and blog them on your site. It’s like wordpress social bookmarking.. or let’s call it bookmarking to your site.
• Gears - Support for the “Gears” browser plugin which will soon makes browsing faster.
• Theme Preview - This is quite useful.. when you hover on the theme thumbnail, a preview of your site with the selected theme will be shown.
• Better Plug-in management - i like this a lot.
